Ben N Gemma's Art

Halloween stuff

We did an acrylic pour on a wooden tray table top to create a fluorescent pumpkin. The eyeball is a photo of the sunset with acrylic paint added. We are having an "evil eye painting contest" for a Halloween activity , we supply the sunset photo and paint supplies to see what our local kids can do.

Acrylic Pour

This is one of our first acrylic pours on stretched canvas. I never know what the final result will be, and everyone see's something different. What does your imagination see?

Acrylic Pour Plus

We are always trying to do things no one else is doing. Alternate media is a favorite, as well as adding items to the artwork. This was Sarah's first pour on stretched canvas and she decided to add a pigeon feather we found in front of the store.

Acrylic on Art Photo

In this study of Balance Rock in Helper, Utah, we took an art photo and painted everything but the sky. Our technique is to display two or more pictures side by side as in this study.

Acrylic on Art Photo

We bought a digital camera that creates art photos by applying several filters to each shot. We then print the photo on paper compatible with painting. Perfection of this process took much trial and error.

Acrylic on Art Photo

We also take an art photo of the painted art photo to create yet another art photo.

Wildlife

These are two of the elephant seals that hang around the mid-coast region of California. The guttural noise they make booms so loud they sound like they're right next to you when they are really a half mile away.

Wildlife

I started my career as a photographer at eight-years-old. I studied many techniques and have always had an eye for framing a picture. The thing that affects a shot like these, though, is being in the right place at the right time.

Wildlife

This crow stayed right in front of me, on this post, posing, for twenty minutes. A couple in a car nearby even had to make a comment regarding the odd behavior asking if he worked for me.

Wildlife

During the summer of 2020 I drove back and forth across the country 7 times looking for a place to call home. I went back to the Big Sur coast of California in the summer of 2019 after being stranded as a hitch hiker 42 years ago at the age of 18.

Wildlife

Many birds and animals posed for me like it was their job. I took many bird pictures as well as birds interacting with other wildlife.

Wildlife

The coastal squirrels are very odd looking creatures, and extremely bold. I watched these two, along with several others not shown, for hours and was blessed with some wonderful shots.
